Young Center Announces the Immigrant Child and Family Rights Project
There is an urgent need for Child Advocates for children taken from their parents and for advocacy to halt the administration’s new policy of criminally charging parents and taking their children away. The Young Center is raising funds to launch a new program, the Immigrant Child and Family Rights Project. Right now we have waiting lists for Child Advocates in all of our sites. The requests are coming from the staff at the facilities where children are held, from attorneys representing the parents, even from government officials. With your help, we can increase our capacity to take more cases.
The Immigrant Child and Family Rights Project will be staffed by two attorneys who will fight on behalf of individual children, advocate for systemic change to end the practice of family separation by the Department of Homeland Security, and for policies that better protect the rights of children and families.
