Renée Ahlers Beckoff

Renée is currently Senior Counsel, Head of Governance, at Bridgewater Associates, LP.  She began her legal career in the Latin America practice group of Cleary Gottlieb, with a focus on international capital markets, cross-border transactions, and SEC reporting.  Her six years at Cleary included a six-month stint in the Buenos Aires office, a secondment in Verizon’s capital markets legal group, and an externship at Lawyers Alliance, an organization that provides legal services to nonprofits in New York City. As Head of Governance at Bridgewater, she works closely with the Operating Board of Directors, which was established as part of the transition of control from the firm’s founder.  Renée also leads the legal team’s Pro Bono Committee and is the Executive Sponsor of the firm’s Hispanic-Latinx affinity network. She received her A.B. in International Relations and Hispanic Studies from Brown University in 2009, and completed a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Toluca, México before receiving her J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School in 2013. Renée first became involved with the Young Center as a clinical student during law school and continued volunteering as a child advocate for a number of years.
