Young Center Condemns the New Travel Ban

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 21, 2020, Chicago, IL – Today the Trump administration's expansion of the travel ban, also known as the Muslim ban, goes into effect. The policy adds immigration and travel restrictions for people from six more countries including Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar. Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights condemns this latest effort to add new restrictions on people coming to the United States. This administration’s campaign against immigrants and people traveling to the United States is relentless and ugly. While the ban will not directly apply to refugees and asylum-seekers, it will limit the possibility for family members to join them in the United States, leaving parents and children at risk of prolonged or permanent separation.

The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is a non-profit organization that protects and advances the rights and best interests of immigrant children and advocates for an immigration system that treats children as children first.
