Washington D.C. — The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is ecstatic to announce and welcome Chirlie Felix as the newest member of our Board of Directors. Chirlie is a fierce advocate for intersectional human rights and the rights of children and has spent years volunteering as a Child Advocate with the Young Center and working alongside Young Center staff to advocate for the rights, safety, and best interests of unaccompanied and separated children.

In addition to her dedicated advocacy for children’s rights and lived experience of migrating to the United States as a child from the Dominican Republic, Chirlie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in education, philanthropy, and organizational and leadership development. Chirlie currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and 10-year-old son and serves as the Managing Director at FSG where she helps corporate and foundation clients grow their capacity to center equity in their business and philanthropic efforts and scale their social impact. We are so excited to have you on board! Welcome, Chirlie!

Chirlie Felix, Member of the Young Center’s Board of Directors, said:

"I'm thrilled and honored to join the Young Center’s Board of Directors! The Young Center has always held a special place in my heart ever since I began volunteering as a Child Advocate in 2020. As a volunteer, I listened to and heard the stories children shared with me about their migration journeys, and I couldn’t help but think of my own experiences of migrating to this country when I was just 9 years old.  I can say from firsthand experience that the journey of migrating from one country to another is a major physical and emotional transition for anyone, let alone a child. And this transition is made far more challenging for children and youth who are separated from their loved ones and forced to navigate an entirely new country on their own. The dedication of the Young Center’s Child Advocates remains unmatched, and I’m so grateful to deepen my support for the organization’s mission while serving on the Board of Directors.”
